Terms of Service

Bellnote · Version 2026-10-10

Draft, pending legal review.

The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Balaji Venkatesan ("Bellnote", "we"). By tapping "I agree" you accept them and the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Bellnote.

You must be at least 18 and a parent or legal guardian of the children you add. Bellnote is for parents. Children do not use it and must not be given access to it.

Tapping "I agree" is your electronic signature. You agree to these terms, and to receive notices about them, electronically, with the same effect as signing on paper. We keep a record of your agreement (see "Records of your agreement" in the Privacy Policy), and you can see it in Settings at any time.

What Bellnote does, and what it doesn’t

Bellnote reads the school and activity messages you give it, uses artificial intelligence (AI) to find dates, deadlines, things to bring and payments, and shows them on a shared family calendar and to-do list.

AI makes mistakes. Bellnote can miss an item, get a date, time or amount wrong, attach it to the wrong child, or treat two different things as one. Always check anything important against the original message. Items Bellnote isn’t sure about are held in Review for you to check.

Bellnote is not the official channel of any school, club or team. Their own notices always take precedence. We are not responsible for missed events, deadlines, payments or any consequence of relying on Bellnote.

Your account and your family

Keep your sign-in secure and your details accurate. You can invite another parent or guardian to your family; anyone you invite sees everything in it. Only invite people entitled to see your children’s schedule.

You are responsible for what happens in your account.

What you send us

You can forward emails, take photos of flyers, share messages or paste text. Only send content you are entitled to share. Messages often include other people’s names or words; send them only to organise your own family’s schedule.

Don’t send sensitive information Bellnote doesn’t need, such as medical details, government ID numbers, passwords or bank details. Bellnote isn’t designed to protect that kind of information beyond its normal safeguards.

You keep ownership of what you send. You let us process it only to run Bellnote for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. We don’t use it to train AI models and we don’t sell it.

Your children’s information

You decide what Bellnote knows about your children: a first name, and optionally grade, school, activities, a colour and an emoji avatar. Bellnote never asks for, and never stores, a child’s photo or date of birth.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Reading your email automatically (optional)

If you connect your email account, Bellnote reads only messages from senders on your family’s allowed list, read-only, to find dates and to-dos. It never sends, changes or deletes your email, and it never reads other messages.

This is off unless you turn it on, on a separate screen that explains it. You can turn it off at any time in Settings, which stops reading straight away and revokes Bellnote’s access. Forwarding emails yourself always remains available.

Bellnote’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Reading WhatsApp groups automatically (optional, Android)

On Android, you can let Bellnote read notifications from WhatsApp groups you choose for each child. Every other chat is ignored on your phone and nothing from it is sent anywhere.

Messages from the groups you choose are used only to find dates and to-dos and are not stored: they are read in memory, the sender’s name and number are removed on your phone, and only the resulting calendar items are kept. Other people in those groups have not agreed to Bellnote; turn this on only for groups whose messages you are comfortable having processed this way.

This is off unless you turn it on, on a separate screen that explains it, and you can change your groups or turn it off at any time. WhatsApp is a trademark of Meta; Bellnote is not affiliated with or endorsed by Meta or WhatsApp.

Your phone’s calendar (optional)

If you allow it, Bellnote adds items to the calendar you choose on your phone and updates or removes only the events it added. It doesn’t use your other calendar events.

Acceptable use

Don’t misuse Bellnote: no attempts to access other families’ information, to disrupt the service, to send unlawful content, or to use it for anything other than organising your own family.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. If you created the family, deleting your account deletes the family and everything in it for every parent. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

Disclaimers and liability

Bellnote is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses arising from missed or incorrect calendar items, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or US $50 if you paid nothing). Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be limited.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll show you the new version in the app and ask you to agree again before you continue.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, except where your local consumer law says otherwise.
